Michael and Sara were married at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park on a gorgeous September evening. The personal touches where everywhere at this wedding. Sara and Michael meticulously made all the decorations, boutineers and bouquets using paper from old books to look like newspaper. Michael is a photographer and Sara is a writer. They both are on staff at the West Valley View newspaper where they met. For Michael and Sara’s first date they made an apple pie so it was fitting that instead of a traditional wedding cake they cut an apple pie- which they made together the night before the wedding!

I was recently asked by In With Skin Magazine to provide some tips, from a photographer’s perspective, for brides to ensure they have flawless photos that will last a lifetime. Check out this month’s special wedding issue which is chock full of ideas for your wedding.
Timing is everything:
When preparing your ceremony timeline, plan to have your portraits taken during the golden hour before sunset. This is the time of day when the light is softest, and everything is blanketed in a beautiful warm glow.
Let go:
Try not to stress out too much on your wedding day! This may seem obvious but the more relaxed and excited you are the better the pictures. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Your wedding is going to be amazing no matter what happens.
Add color:
Think of the bouquets and boutonniere as a splash of color in the pictures. I love it when couples have fun with their flowers.
Stay true:
Keep your hair and makeup true to your own style. You will want to look back at your photographs and see your most beautiful self not a stranger.
Look your best:
Get rest the night before the big day and make sure you are hydrated. The better you feel, the better you will look.
Be spontaneous:
Relax, be yourself and go with the flow. Some of my favorite photos are the ones that happen spontaneously. As a photographer, my goal is to be as unobtrusive as possible and to capture those moments that make your wedding special and unique.

Natalie and Jeremy were married in a beautiful ceremony at Scottsdale Congregational United Church of Christ. This is a couple that loves color! The bridesmaids all had the same dress in different colors, sapphire, ruby and emerald, with matching flowers and the groomsmen each had a different color kilt for the occasion.

During our engagement shoot last spring Vanessa and Kelly had warned me that they were going to have a rowdy crowd and it turns out they were right. This is the first wedding I have been to that involved tailgating in the parking lot with a tent, beer pong, a mini grill cooking bratwurst and steak, and a TV!
Vanessa and Kelly were married at the Secret Garden in Phoenix on a warm October afternoon. Vanessa and I share a love of sunflowers so I just adored her bouquet and her bridesmaids bouquets that featured mini sunflowers and roses!
