Morning with the Day family

This was not your typical family portrait session. The Day family wanted something different and real, a slice of life on a typical weekend morning. I showed up and let the kids be kids. There were pirate sword fights, jumping on mom and dad’s bed, snacks, cuddle time, wrestling, trains and swinging from the trees. Children grow up so stinking fast and along the way life can be loud and messy but those genuine moments of laughing and chaos are the most beautiful. Thank you to the Day family for letting me into your world.

Family portrait session in Washington DC with Paula and David

I got to see and photograph one of my favorite families while I was visiting my own family back east last month. Paula and David live in Washington DC and we have talked about how the next time I went back home to Virginia that we should get together for a portrait session in their home town. It worked out perfectly that we scheduled their session on a perfect fall morning in DC. It was sunny and a little windy with flowers still growing in the garden. I had seen Paula and David only a few short months ago last May while they were visiting Arizona with Adriana, but what a difference that short time makes in the life of a baby! Adriana was in great spirits and has gotten so much bigger!

Scottsdale family portrait session with Paula & David

One wonderful aspect of my job is being able to stay in touch with the fantastic people I meet through my wedding photography. Paula and David were so much fun to get to know and photograph at their engagement session and wedding that I was truly thrilled to see them again while they were in town visiting Arizona with their new beautiful little daughter. She is sweet as pie and is one lucky little girl to have two really amazing parents!

Traci and Bryan’s engagement session + family portraits

Traci and Bryan are getting married and blending their families so I thought it was just perfect to include their children and grandchild into the photo shoot. One part engagement pictures, one part family portrait session and lots of love. Traci’s little grandson took it all the commotion in stride and was adorably passed out during much of the photo shoot. For me it was really fun to do these pictures before the wedding because now I know, not only the bride and groom, but also the most important people in their life. I look forward to their wedding next month!
