Jill and Mark’s South Mountain engagement shoot- Phoenix, Arizona

The sun also rises. It was not too long ago that I had a conversation with my sister Abby about what was more special a sunset or a sunrise. I went with sunrise because seeing one was much more rare in my life at the time. Now, with a baby seeing a sunrise is not as infrequent as it once was but shooting at sunrise is still an anomaly. I was up a little after 4am in order to be ready in time to meet Jill and Mark for an early morning engagement shoot at South Mountain. Arriving a little early at our meeting place I watched as the sky turned from blue to orange in a matter of minutes. The temperature was perfect even though it as already in the high 80s by the time we started shooting. Jill and Mark looked great in white and were a fun couple to photograph. We used the mountainous desert and vast city vistas as a beautiful backdrop for this outdoorsy and athletic couple. By 7am the sun was blazing and by 7:30 we were done, I got to go home and take a nap but Jill was just starting her 24 hour rotation at the fire station! I am looking forward to photographing their wedding this fall!

Your engagement picutures are truly beautiful. You couldn’t have chosen a more perfect setting to capture the two of you. There’s a song that Frank Sinatra sang called, “Sunrise in the Morning” and the lyrics suit your wonderful life together.

“And on that day just when dawn was breaking
I saw your face everywhere
And on that morning, love was in the making
I heard you voice, I hear music, I have no care.”

Of course, this is just one verse of the song but check it out…it fits you two. Love you, Mom
