I am often asked by couples how many pictures I will take at their wedding. The literal answer is a couple thousand. Because I am shooting with high quality digital camera equipment and do not have to worry about film there is essentially no limit to the amount of photos I can take. With that said my final product for each wedding can range anywhere from 500-900 edited images. Part of what you are hiring me as a professional photographer to do is edit those images down to the best of the best. The final number of photographs you will receive also depends on the amount of time you hire me for your wedding. Obviously I will be taking more photographs when I am hired for eight hours than I will if I am hired for four hours.
All photographers have their own shooting style. I am guilty of being an over shooter. I have always been this way. I make small adjustments to my camera settings and I am constantly moving and reframing the subject. Because of the way I work I often take multiple photos of the same scene to get that one perfect image. I am not going to give you the five shots leading up to the one picture that strikes gold. My goal is for people to look and feel natural in front of the camera and sometimes that means allowing the couple to relax as I continue to shoot and wait for the perfect natural moment to occur. I also take a lot of photos during the wedding reception and will fire off 8-10 frames of the same people dancing or laughing because I am looking for that transcendent moment when the stars align and you can feel the music and energy in a single photograph.
