I got this email from wedding planner extraordinaire Kim Horn early Wednesday morning and it touched my heart.
“Yesterday, a bride’s friend, Tina, called me around 2:30pm. Tina told me her BFF (best friend forever), Katie has a mom dying of cancer. They just found out Katie’s mom is not expected to live through this weekend. Tina wanted to find out if I could help her pull something together for the bride for a ceremony on Wednesday, at 3pm. Katie decided to move up her wedding, at her home in East Mesa with her 15 – 20 closest family and friends. Katie decided the most important thing was to have her mom be there to see her walk down the aisle. Within 2 hours, I helped her friend, Tina, and Katie get a “wedding plan” for Katie’s backyard patio ceremony, and celebration of life. Oh yes, forgot to tell you they called and have zero dollars because of the expenses in covering Katie’s mom’s medical bills.”
I knew I wanted to help the bride and give her some beautiful photos of her and her mother on her wedding day. Katie pulled her entire wedding together with help from friends and family in about 24 hours. She even found her perfect wedding dress at David’s Bridal late Wednesday night. Flowers and chairs where donated by Y-Knot Party & Rentals. Surrounded by loved ones Katie got her wish as her mother watched her take her vows. Photography allowed me to give a little something back in the spirit of the holidays.
